This third element of the series is about distraction.
Anything that grabs attention away from the introspection of dealing with cancer was to be welcomed. The odd, the strange, the constant colour & movement of a crowd, or of a religous festival, was almost irresistible in it’s appeal. At times too much so - even now there is a temptation to fill this book with images of distraction & riotous colour, - at the cost of more nuanced & private images & responses.
